Comprehensive List of Sites with MIDI Files
Selection Criteria
If you would like to nominate another site for this page, please be sure it meets these criteria. Also, please be sure that it has already been
submitted to the main list.
The site works well for everyone, including those with slow connections.
The site offers an easy-to-use interface and is not bogged down by lots of images, JavaScript, embedded files, frames, bulky table-formatting and other nonsense.
The site is not cluttered with lots of advertising, banner exchanges, "loops", "top sites", "best sites", etc.
Though images may be on the pages, the pages should look good even if images are not loaded.
The pages can be used by all browsers, meaning none of the following should be required: JavaScript, Java, 2-column page formatting, frames
There are many MIDI files and they are easy to find.
MIDI Files are never more than 3-clicks away from this page.
The link on this page is either
... a page which links directly to MIDI files. (MIDI files are 2-clicks from here.)
... a simple, quick-loading table of contents to pages which have links to MIDI files in either .zip or .mid format. (MIDI files are 3-clicks from here.)
Pages are well-organized allowing easy downloading of MIDI files.
No sites with only 2 or 3 MIDI files per page. This causes the visitor to keep downloading pages in order to download MIDI files.
No sites with large (filesize) pages (Over 20 Kb). (I haven't decided what is a good maximum filesize, so maybe slightly larger, but definitely no larger than 32K.)
MIDI files are well-identified.
I personally think the site is well-designed. See some guidelines.
